Bicton Park Botanical Gardens is home to many rare plants with origins from all parts of the world, including one of the finest collections of trees in Britain. This Heritage garden is maintained by a team of dedicated gardeners who look after and tend the different areas, so that you can enjoy them to their fullest. The 64 acres of land and gardens to explore will keep you coming back time after time as you see them progress through the year and change with the seasons.
The Botanical Gardens have their roots in the early 18th Century, but Bicton itself dates back more than 1300 years. It was originally called Beoccatun, meaning the hamlet belonging to Beocca, a Saxon chieftain who settled in the forest on the west bank of the River Otter, then much wider than it is now.
Meet our dedicated team of people who all share a passion for making the Bicton visitor experience an enjoyable one for all of our visitors.

Sadly, occasionally we lose large trees due to the wind and although they leave a hole where they once stood the space does provide another opportunity to replant in its place. However, instead of the wood being taken away or cut up for firewood we try and re purpose any pieces we can.
We also take Tesco Days Out Vouchers at reception
